From signup to your first CBAM certificate, in 6 steps.
The exact workflow Carbon Border runs for EU and UK SME importers. No spreadsheets, no consultants, no NCA guesswork.
1. Create your account and complete KYC
Register, verify your EORI and company registration, sign the Carbon Border data processor agreement. ~10 minutes.
2. Generate the NCA Application Pack
Carbon Border auto-builds the Operational Capacity Manual, Financial Exposure Report, HS-Code Alignment and Supplier Portal Links. €1,499 one-time. Submit to your Member State NCA — typical review 2–12 weeks.
3. Send supplier emissions portals
For each non-EU supplier (mill, smelter, kiln, plant, generator) Carbon Border sends a secure portal link. They upload verifier-signed embedded emissions in 5 minutes.
4. Log shipments and calculate liability
Each shipment gets HS/TARIC, tonnage, origin and supplier. Carbon Border calculates embedded emissions × the live ETS-aligned certificate price, in EUR.
5. Procure CBAM certificates each quarter
At the end of each quarter Carbon Border generates the audit-ready PDF + ZIP bundle and procures the exact certificate quantity via Stripe.
6. Maintain the 5-year audit trail
Every shipment, supplier statement, calculation and certificate purchase is preserved in an immutable, machine-readable ledger for 5 years per Article 30 of Reg. (EU) 2023/956.
